TRF is a place of hope and renewal. It is a place for Thoroughbreds to go when their racing days are behind them, a place where they will be safe, healthy and well cared for. It is a place that offers a humane alternative to the dire possibilities that have long faced a great majority of ex-racers - neglect, abuse and slaughter. It is a place, built on love and caring, that is befitting such noble and deserving animals.

Funded entirely by private grants and donations from individuals who love animals - wonderful people like you - CARE rescues at-risk dogs and cats without regard for their health status, age or adoptability, and seeks responsible homes for them. Unlike most rescue groups, we have no time limits. Whether it takes 7 days or 7 years, our rescues have a home for life!
That's because we operate a cage-free, no-kill sanctuary providing a home-sweet-home for up to 200 orphaned cats and dogs in the high desert north of Los Angeles. Our sanctuary, established in 1998 and licensed by the county, consistently earns "A" ratings when inspected by the Dept of Animal Regulation. Some of our rescues are older, or suffer from chronic yet treatable diseases, such as diabetes and Feline AIDS. That's why our sanctuary expenses are higher than most rescue groups' expenses. DOGS DESERVE BETTER is a nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing the chained dog, and bringing our 'best friend' into the home and family. Dogs Deserve Better, 2003 First Place Winner of the ASPCA/Chase Pet Protector Award, is a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes. As the days become years, many of these dogs sit, lay, eat, and defecate within the same 10-foot radius. Chained by the neck, they exist without respect, love, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets.
The mission of the Search Dog Foundation is to produce the most highly trained canine disaster search teams in the nation.  The job of these teams is to find people buried alive in the wreckage of natural disasters and terrorist attacks.
To create these teams, SDF recruits rescued dogs from shelters and breed rescue groups, gives them professional training, and partners them with firefighters and other first responders at no cost to their departments.  We ensure lifetime care for every dog in our program: once rescued, these dogs will never need to be rescued again.
SDF receives no government funding, and relies on our supporters throughout the country to provide these services. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, tax ID number 77-0412509.
This website is provided as a public service and staffed by Purebred Cat Breed Rescue. While our primary focus is Purebred Rescue, our desire is to help the US military and paramilitary personnel retain ownership of their cats, have these pets cared for in a loving manner in an individual foster home while their owners are absent, and have these cats returned to their owners once their owners return. We consider prevention of relinquishment to be an important aspect of rescue. As a result, we operate Operation Noble Foster to provide our military with an alternative to relinquishment if their duty-call means they must leave their cats for a prolonged period of time. Another of our websites, NeuterSpay.org provides a searchable database of affordable spay neuter resources as well as information about kitten neuter and spay to help with prevention of unwanted kittens and hormonal complications which may cause owners to relinquish their cats.

My beloved pug Mimi La Rue who passed away last month was truly one of the great loves of my life. She was an inspiration to all and touched everyone's lives who came in to contact with her. I originally bought Mimi at a pet store. At the time, like a lot of people, I was uninformed and clueless when it came to rescue work. I had no idea how awful it was to buy a dog from a store instead of rescuing them. Today I am a huge supporter of animal rescue and I often say that the day I bought Mimi was truly my first act of rescue work unbeknownst to myself. Mimi came with a slew of medical problems from the get go. I blame this on the ignorance of pet stores who purchase from puppy mills and contribute to the continuation of inbreeding which causes all sorts of health problems in dogs. At 6 months old Mimi had to have hip surgery. She was also diagnosed at age 5 with a form of heart disease and a neck problem so severe that many specialists said that she would not live a long life or would suffer paralysis.

Mimi gave me unconditional love and in return I never gave up on her! Medically I did all I could for her (even when people said I was so Hollywood for sending her to accupunture every week). I'm blessed that I had the luxury of being able to afford Mimi's medical bills and I'm happy to say that Mimi La Rue, a miracle in her own right, passed away at age 11 comfortably in her sleep, in her home, surrounded by family.

However, there are many people out there that can't afford to pay for their sick or injured pets' medical bills or simply don't want to invest the time or money. Because of this, pets are abandoned or dumped at shelters daily.

So, to honor the memory of Mimi La Rue and with the help of Much Love Animal Rescue, I am starting The Mimi La Rue Fund for sick and injured animals. Because of Mimi and her zest for life (and pink dresses!) Much Love will have the funds to rescue these animals from the shelters that otherwise would not have the chance to find loving homes.

Thank you for your support!
